About the Filtered Series

Filter the world’s wisdom through scripture.

Wisdom and the Bible

“Through the trials of life, I’ve become, in a sense, a collector of wisdom, not just any wisdom, but the kind that speaks to the soul.”

Over the years, I’ve sifted through the world’s advice and well-researched insights, holding on to what works and discarding what doesn’t. Some of this wisdom aligns with biblical principles, and when it does, it proves transformative. But some wisdom falls short, effective in its own right, yet incomplete. This made me wonder: can we find God in this created order? Can his truth be woven into the wisdom of human experience and affirmed through scripture?

Growing up in church, we were surrounded by familiar truths, but it wasn’t until suffering entered my life that I truly began to understand them. Suffering has a way of stripping away our illusions of control, revealing what we’re really made of. In my own pain, I realized I could no longer hold on to bitterness. My carefully constructed plans crumbled under life’s weight, and in that moment of helplessness, I found the only way out: pursuing God. In that pursuit, I began to see how much of the wisdom I had valued was actually found in scripture.

“That’s the mission behind Ruth and Rupert.”

The goal is to explore the wisdom of our time, expert counsel and philosophies that have stood the test of time and examine where they align with God and where they fall short. Through essays and articles, we’ll explore the intersection of worldly wisdom and biblical truth, like learning from the life lessons of wise old friends named Ruth and Rupert.
